Rose Phillips

Founder / Executive Director

Hi, I’m Rose, originally from St Ives, and now living in Polgigga (2 miles from Lands End). My background includes studying a BA in mathematics, working with the homeless, health food shop management, and teaching Kundalini Yoga.

Currently I am in a relatively early developmental stage towards realising myself as an artist, with a very keen interest in the human form and psyche and how this relates to the impersonal/archetypal realm. I am also a tree hugger, rock hugger, animal and baby lover. Living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (and likely extremely neuro-diverse), I am hyper sensitive, which brings many pros and cons. I love swimming in the sea whenever I get a chance, often being heard chanting whilst doing backstroke.

Unfortunately discrimination and prejudice can still be prevalent in today’s society. So, born out of need, I formed justlife.art in April 2022 primarily to create an inclusive and affordable opportunity for myself and others living locally to develop a practice centred around representing and expressing the human form and psyche. I find being with others who are equally passionate about developing art practice to be really invigorating, as is receiving the most considerate and insightful tuition. However, most of all I feel at home, like I know who I am when I am drawing and painting, amongst peers, that this is indeed who I really am, an artist.
