Maia Elliott

facilitator/technician

My interest in visual language started when as a child my father gifted me my first camera aged just six years old.

I pursued photography obsessively and, like many others, believed that competency in drawing and painting was for the talented few so harnessed photography for creative self expression. I gained a BA in Graphic Design, specialising in photography, at Winchester School of Art, later utilising these skills to build an online shop which employed my photography and design skills, allowing me spare time for my own creative photography practice.

In 2021I returned to my authentic childhood dream of being a traditional artist and began to take study seriously which I contuse as daily practice. I consider myself to be an art student and am not currently exhibiting or selling work - every available moment is dedicated to drawing and painting.

Figurative work plays an important part in my practice and being a part of justlife.art CIC team allows me access to a wide range of models, hosted in a warm environment which allows me space to explore the human figure in sessions that often extend over several days. which is something I found hard to find in the past. Whilst also giving me further experience in facilitating and technician work.
