With a perpetual fascination and production of landscapes in the broadest sense, Kate’s drawing practice forms a contemporary allegory about our relationship with surface, inanimate object and environment.
There is an ambiguous state of place in her work, where elements of the world are hinted at with a removal of the weight and structure of the language of the stories they tell.
A documenting of pace, both internal and external, leads to outcomes of fragmented topography, both specific and generic, an ambiguous state of space.
Notable recent projects include a DYCP Arts Council grant and subsequent residencies at DrawInternational France, Studio Residency at Karst Gallery studio last summer, followed by a 3 month Artist in Residence at Tehidy Park, Cornwall in conjunction with Krowji, Cornwall Council, Good Growth and Arts Council funded.
