Christopher Rowland

Director

Hi, I’m Chris. I have a background as a Deputy Head Teacher of a large secondary school in Berkhamsted, where I taught History and PE, and was responsible for curriculum, timetabling, and safeguarding.

Retiring at 55, I returned home to Cornwall six years ago with my partner Mary, and soon after, somehow, I commenced a very different second career - life modelling, I know, a complete change in direction! But I absolutely love it, and now can be found modelling at a range of organisations all over West Cornwall as well as further afield.

Recently my partner, Mary, has begun modelling with me in a series of joint poses which has been extremely well received. Modelling has ignited our passion for art, and with no experience behind us, Mary and I now regularly attend life drawing classes as students. We also attend weekly Ballroom Dancing sessions I play golf whenever I can, and regularly drive the minibus for the outdoor art courses run by Newlyn School of Art.

I feel passionately that anyone, regardless of their life situation, should have equal opportunity to engage in developing their skills in drawing and painting. Recognising this, Rose invited me to become more involved in assisting, supporting, and directing aspects justlife.art, which I feel is an honour and a privilege. I look forward to engaging in many more years of painting and modelling.
